To be a voluntary worker means to concern oneself with the wellbeing of others, or the community in general, without financial compensation, to help freely and without coercion in an organization under the principle of solidarity.
Projecte Home Balears is a living programme that functions thanks to the collaboration of private and public institutes, private businesses and especially thanks to the help and support of the voluntary worker, as without them it would be impossible to accomplish the daily work that is realised.
The world of drugs is characterised, among other things, by being a world of selfishness, non-cooperation, lies and manipulation, aspects that contrast markedly with those of the spirit of the voluntary worker which is based in the culture of solidarity, help and gratitude.
The voluntary worker is that person who has the capacity to give a helping hand to whoever needs it without expecting financial reward, only that of a job well done. He or she is therefore, a role model for those persons who have always acted with self-interest, manipulation and self-pity.
The voluntary worker in Projecte Home Balears has to accompany people who are making the effort to confront their own reality and difficulties. Any task must be done with discretion, in a responsible manner and respecting the right to privacy of the users and their families.
